Women's leadership

We have entered a new millennium and yet we still look forward to hearing about the first woman to do things that men have been doing for centuries. Nevertheless we are hopeful because we recognise the progress made in various sectors from marking firsts to reconfiguring norms.

However although it is now the norm in most places in the world for any woman who wishes to be able to work outside the home, we will not be satisfied until women’s work is free from sexual harassment, unequal pay and other forms of gender-based discrimination. We will continue to struggle until all women and men have equal access to education, employment, political systems, and the full exercise of their right to self-determination. Until then, we will continue to report on the challenges faced and the strides made towards a world characterised by equality and justice.
